As a busy mother and wife it can be easy to set aside my own goals while helping my loved ones each day. When I first opened my gym, my goal was to become a health and wellness coach in addition to a personal trainer and medical fitness specialist. I am proud to announce that this summer, in the midst of celebrating my oldest son’s wedding, I reached my goal and I received my certification as a Health and Wellness Coach- training that enables me to help clients succeed on their individual quest for true health and wellness.
John Wooden, former UCLA basketball coach, said, “Success comes from knowing that you did your best to become the best that you are capable of becoming.” My job as a wellness coach is to help you put in your best work to fulfill your vision of your healthiest you.
In sports, good coaches do not tell players every step to take with the ball. Rather, great coaches develop successful athletes over time. They provide knowledge of the game and help individual players select the tools they can use to succeed. Good coaches encourage athletes to dig deep to find their inner strength to succeed.
Similarly, my job as a wellness coach is to provide knowledge of exercise and nutrition and to help you select tools you can use to reach your health goals. I can help you recognize improved quality and deeper meaning in life that comes from wellness. Concrete areas in which I can help include:
Maintaining life balance
Maintaining an active lifestyle
Eating healthy
Modifying unhealthy habits or addictions (refer you to other professionals when needed)
Managing stress
Incorporating mind-body centered practices in daily living
Starting new exercise program after prolonged illness or injury (I can work with your physical therapist to support their prescription)
Life is busy, and if we wait for it to slow down we may never make our goals happen. Take time today to take charge of your health and wellness goals, and know that you have a coach that can help you achieve your best!
